My 9mo dd is a snuggle freak. Now that she is mobile, she worms her way to the corner of the cot and jams her head against the bumper - this is the thinnest I can find, and I can breathe through it easily, but I know this is not the best of situations. Removing the bumper leads to a bumped head, arms through the bars, and lots of waking.
And now, to add to my worries, she will not sleep without a blanket to rub against her face. Again, this is a blanket I can breathe through easily, and I tuck it in hard so she can't get it too far up, but I don't like it. I should add that she has a sleeping bag, but needs the blanket as well because it is cold. And she won't do without it now even if I put an oil radiator in her room; she won't accept a muslin instead, or a little fluffy toy comforter. She has an addictive personality!
What to do? Go through the pain barrier of weaning her off the blankie, or leave things as they are. I believe babies are able to regulate their temp when they turn one year old. She is already able to pull covers over her or push them off at will.
