Clock change - 4.30am wake up

Well if I thought the early wake ups couldn't get any worse. Theyve now gone from 5am to 4.30 🤯 DS is 2.3 and I'm heavily pregnant so really wanna get sorted before DD arrives! Going to invest in a gro clock this weekend. He has been waking at 5am for a few months now. He goes to bed 6.30 usually asleep by 7 and has 1-2 hours in the day, he can't be overtired? He has had few bad nappies recently & has been asking for calpol, also this morning chewing on remote so I assume it's teeth today. Ahhh really hope the Gro clock works! Luckily I'm on mat leave but DH is exhausted x

I would add here my friends lo has had a nap for months and she was 2 in April. She sleeps 7pm till 8am 🤷🏼‍♀️ it does vary kid to kid. But I would try later bedtime first. But that's me x

Ours did early wakes until she dropped her final nap - though she was very early to do this, started at around 18 months.

11-18 months was up at 5ish, nap at lunchtime for 28 minutes (her choice, not ours) and bed at 6.30pm.

20+ months was no nap, bed at 6.30pm and having to be woken at 6.30am to get to grandparents’/nursery on our way to work.

I’m a primary teacher living in a small house so there’s no way we could do later bedtimes - I need at least three quiet hours in the evening to keep up with workload - so I was thrilled it’s worked out this way. I do think there comes a point where it’s a choice between later bedtimes or no nap, and we were lucky that DD1 chose to drop (aka flat out refuse) the nap herself.

@NavigatingAdolescence well that's not good at all. Midnight? I go to bed myself around 10pm so couldn't have DS up past then & he has nursery at 8am so not sure how I'd get anything done if he slept until noon Jesus

Update - the past 2 nights he's gone to sleep for 8pm and has woke up slightly later, 5.30-6am so we will stick to this for now as 8 is an acceptable bed time. I am still convinced it's due to teeth though as he came home from nursery with a rash all over his mouth and when I've looked in his mouth I can see a molar has cut through. I know it's probably not usually associated with teething but we have noticed before this happens when he is cutting xx

Ah. It suited us owls. She’s a very clever and bright 11 year old now. Just goes to show there isn’t only one way to do this parenting thing. Wink
