Baby moving in the crib while asleep?

My DD (Almost 11 weeks old) sleeps in a Next2Me by our bed.

Her nightime sleep is typically between 10-8 with a wakeup or two. Her first wakeup used to be at 4am but the last week or so she has been waking up much earlier (usually 2am but has been even before that). When I look in her crib she seems to have shimmied up so her head is pushed against the top! The crib is tilted slightly downwards to help her reflux so I dont know how shes doing it so often.

Does anyone have any ideas for how I could stop her doing this so it doesn't wake her up?

Thank you!

You don't need to stop babies moving around in their cot. In fact the Lullaby Trust specifically advise against anything that might hold baby in position in the cot, did to SIDS risk.

Its quite normal for babies to shuffle upwards. If you don't already use on, a sleeping bag might be better than blankets if baby is shuffling around. This is so blankets don't accidentally cover baby's head when moving.

Don't worry about it, babies move. Plus it probably isn't the squishing that's waking her, is she hungry when she wakes at 2?

Babies and small children move and wriggle. It’s one of the reasons why they’re in cots, so they won’t fall out.

They also change their sleep all the time – the waking earlier will just be her new thing, it won’t last then she’ll be on to the next pattern. 11 weeks is very young to have a “typical” night’s sleep – plenty more surprises still in store Smile

We had to move DD out of her crib at about 8 weeks because she liked to rotate (even in a sleeping bag), and would end up with her head at one side of the crib, bum against the other, legs in the air against the crib bars Hmm

She’s now 2.5 and we find her in the strangest positions, nowhere near where she initially lies down. Some babies just move a lot while asleep, I don’t think you can do anything.

This is totally normal, also normal for their sleep patterns to change.

Don’t try and stop her,

Assuming that she can’t get tangled in blankets etc. start her off with her feet at the bottom so it takes longer to work her way up and wake herself.
