4 1/2 week old sleeping a lot

Hi all ,

I'm new here but have had a friend recommended this for some friendly advice from other mums.

So my 4 and 1/2 week old had not been sleeping great , but that last two days he seems to be much more sleepy. Still waking for feeds and nappy change but it's such a huge change. I use to struggle to get her into the crib without waking and now no issues at all.

She did wake every 3-4 hours throughout the night for a much shorter feed than usual.

She still has jaundice and have been told to monitor feeds, sleepiness and wet / full nappies.

Is this usual , This is my first child.

Trust your instincts and get her checked out. I would probably take her to A&E later on because if she needs treatment, you’ll be sent there anyway.

@helterskelter3 okay thank you 🙏

@MrsTidyHouse the thing is we did bloods and they were really good nothing concerning at all.
But what I was exactly told is if she became sleepy that she wasn't waking for her feeds, and If she wasn't having full wet nappies which she still is! She has been awake but just for her feeds and nappy changes. And then straight back down. But before this she was a real struggle to get to nap in the day. Today no issues at all.

When we're bloods done? If it was a few days ago, bloods can literally change within 12 hours, showing different results.

Personally I would pop to your walk in centre/ED just because of the history you have given. 111 will advise ED anyway.

Hi @Fancyties yes I ended up taking her in. Everything came back fine. And whilst we were there she decided to be very alert and since then no issues. They ran bloods again and they're even better this time which is thankfully very reassuring. I was happy I went because I didn't have to stress anymore.
