Suddenly cat napping

My LO was napping 45min cycles and going into his next cycle without much fuss.

For the past 2 weeks he now wakes up after 30minutes and looks wide awake, I have to hold him to get the rest of his nap time in.

How does one go about this without ruining routine? Don’t want him getting used to being held to sleep now. Any advice?

Not sure if it is part of a sleep regression or not, and don't know what to do,

It's worth putting baby to sleep in something that moves - bouncy chair for example, or pushchair parked stationary in the house.

That way when baby stirs between sleep cycles you can offer movement to lull back to sleep, but without lifting and disturbing baby.

The more baby practices linking sleep cycles with help, the better they will get at linking the cycles and so lesshelp will be needed to do it. Initially though, help is usually needed to link sleep cycles.

My LO was starting to get more consistent with longer naps but the last week or two 30min cat naps have started creeping back in. Even with the pram. She is almost 9 months old...!

No advice but I'm just rolling with it. Annoying when your routine changes yet again but I can't force her to sleep!

What's your nap routine?

I have never really had a nap routine per say, he knows it's nap time when I close curtains, swaddle his body, and put the dummy in his mouth, and then he falls asleep.

I don't have a super dark room either, never have.
