Outgrown moses.. what next?

DS is 4 months, sleeps pretty well in his moses basket. But it's getting too small so need to move to something else. He has some naps I'm the big cot and he wrigglers about loads whereas the moses he's all snug.

Do I just accept this is just how it is, or is there an in between step?

With his just turning 4 months I'm too scared to change anything before the sleep regression hits! Confused

Hi, i moved my LO into his cot at 2 months as he had outgrown it! They look tiny in the big cot dont they?! I think theu enjoy wriggling and being able to move about as this will help them develop. As long as the cot is a safe space it will be ok! If you think they need time to settle to the new cot place the moses basket inside cot for a few nights!

I had a side crib by our bed then moved to travel cot then to big cot x

My DD was 2 months and went into the cot only because she’d been sick on the Moses basket and I had no other option at 11pm!! She slept straight away in it so she stayed. DS went into his cot when he outgrew the Moses basket, just kept the same blanket for the first few times.

Sorry to highjack the thread but I’m 38 weeks and was wondering what you do if your baby has outgrown your next to me/ snuzpod and Moses basket but your bedroom isn’t big enough to have a full sized cot in it?

I know safe sleep guidelines are to have your baby in the same room as you for all sleeps until their 6months but looking at my 3 month old DN yesterday I realised there’s no way he’ll be able to still fit into any crib that will match those requirements and wondered what we’ll do with our DS when he’s here!

Feet to foot in a grobag/baby sleeping bag in cot for mine but the youngest is almost 20, so guidelines may have changed

Oh and the cot was in the next room as our bedroom at the time was minuscule.

Never bothered with Moses, got a con sleeper crib which lasted for 8-9m

@whitershadeofpale

The SIDSs advice provides a protective factor like breastfeeding or using a dummy, not roomsharing doesn't add any additional risk like smoking or bedsharing would it just keeps the risk at a baseline level.

Moving early won't increase the risk, and the protective factor room sharing provides is very small.

That being said my son was in a Snuzpod till 7 months and he was 97th centile, we moved it into his room at 8 weeks due to not actually getting any sleep ourselves and my husband not being safe to drive and me not being safe to parent.

@whitershadeofpale we went for travel cot as cot wouldn't fit in our room either x

mummyh2016 · 10/10/2021 16:24

We got a petite cot from mamas and papas which worked well.

Thank you.. I just need to try the big cot or use the travel cot don't I!! I asked the health visitor how you know when they're too big for the moses.. she said when you pick up the baby and the moses comes too 😂 any thoughts on when they're too big?

I thought my LO was too big when she couldn't get her arms either side of her beside her head and when her head was near the top 😂 she was like 3 weeks old 😂
