Removing ‘bad’ sleep habits

Hi ds is 12 months and I’ll soon be going back to work, his grandparents will be helping with childcare and I’m worried about how they will cope with trying to get him to sleep. Usually I will give him the rest of a bottle and rock to sleep, gently placing him down only once asleep in cot but he is getting heavy now and I’m worried that might be a bit tricky for them (it’s taking its toll on me too!). Any tips on how to get him to fall asleep his self now? What should I try and remove first? Also he is still on two naps a day morning and afternoon, roughly each after being awake 2 hours. Should I be dropping one?

I wouldn't drop a nap kids can still nap until they're about 3. He'll drop it naturally in time. I think his grandparents will just find their own way/ routine with him for sleep. It might take time but it'll be ok.

I would not suggest to drop the nap for the kid. Overtime, he will do it by himself. Don't worry about that !
Also, I tried this weird sound which actually get my kid asleep fast. I didn't believe it first, but it did ! You can get it if you want to ( Here is the link - bit.ly/3ADIRm1 ). Also, follow the below tips which help a kid get asleep faster

  1. Drop the temperature of room
  2. Keep silence in the room
  3. Fix a particular time for his sleep
  4. Don't let him see any mobile or television before an hour of his sleeping time.

What worked for both of mine was routine plus gradual retreat.

I put them in their cot with curtains closed. Said it was sleepy time and then sat next to them holding their hand until they fell asleep.

Each time I'd move my hand just a little, then I'd sit a bit further away from the cot. Eventually I could just put them down and leave.
