Wide awake. Baby rolling over face down

Put DS to bed and he instantly rolled over. Which is fine... if that's how he's comfy then whatever. But he rested his face into the mattress.. like fully face down.. he's 5 months old.
I'm so scared to go to sleep so I'm staying awake to watch what he does.

He has really good head control and is just about sitting up but does struggle to roll back onto his back when playing during the day so I know it isn't going to be as easy for him to just roll back which is what's worrying me.
But I can't seriously stay awake all night every single night.. I don't know how I'm going to sleep going forward now 🙈

Anyway.. anyone want to help me feel better that he'll be ok without me watching over him all night? 😳

You could get one of those sleep alarms? I had one that clipped to the nappy, just got peace of mind in the first few weeks. In the short term you may be better co-sleeping. If you remove your pillow, put baby on the crook of your arm so he can't roll over and you can't roll on him. Check out safe co-sleeping guidelines.

@user64325 we have the Snuza Hero already but I'm scared that I won't be able to hear it if he's lying on his front 🙈 I'm also terrified of co-sleeping (can you tell I'm just an anxious mess 🤣) but I think maybe cosleeping safely might be the better option for now. I'll look into it. Thank you!!

Look at a baby monitor with a sensor pad that goes under the mattress. We’ve got an AngelCare and the alarm is quite loud if it goes off.

I’ve never used a clip on monitor, but a friend told me that she gave up on hers once baby was moving around a lot at night. I’m still using the sensor pad with ds at 15 months. I also had one with dd and kept using it until I took the sides off the cot (I’m a nervous mummy too!).

My son started rollover at 13 weeks. Although I know tummy sleeping is fine if he can roll himself. I bought a Sense-U monitor for my son to track rollover. My phone will ring when he is on his stomach. It really helps. And, the sensor can track his breathing, body temp.

@Littleduck83 thank you. We have briefly looked at the sensor pads and considering buying one. Do they connect to your phone or does the alarm go off on a box/monitor?

@KittyQiy yeah we looked at the sense-U but the bad reviews put us off. Some people said the connection was poor even when right next to their baby and the app didn't alert them that it lost connection. Have you had any issues with yours regarding connection?
