Toddler - cot to bed - grobag to duvet?

Please help!

My husband and I have just started toilet training our 2.9yr old, and so far, it's going really well.
He has also used a groclock the last couple of weeks so he has much more of an understanding and generally isn't shouting for us now until gone 7am.

So, do we take the cot side off?

If so, gro bag with feet? Normal duvet? Pillow? Weighted blanket?

Can you wash a weighted blanket?

He is currently in a cotbed in a 3-6yrs grobag.

There's no rush to swap to a bed.

There is usually a big gap between being dry in the daytime and dry overnight - could be 1 - 3 years away before you need to stop using nappies (or pull ups) at night.

I'd suggest keeping the status quo until you get several weeks of completely dry nappies in the morning.

Most children that age will lose the duvet in the middle of the night and wake you up when they get cold.
I would wait and see when you reach night dryness. Since it’s hormonal and can’t be trained, it might be a while. After that, see how often they need to go in the night. My daughter has never woken up needing the toilet.

We took the side off DS' cot bed when he was about 3 as he kept climbing out. Kept him in his sleeping bag, he just unzipped himself in the morning. He asked for a duvet aged 4.

Should add DS wasn't dry at night while still in the sleeping bag.

Also going into winter it may not be the best time to move to a duvet if you think they'll kick it off and get cold, summer may be a better time of year.

This is all really helpful, thank you everyone. I'll leave him in his grobag and cotbed for now, he's never climbed out or attempted to as far as I know.

Thanks again.
