Anyone else’s 18 month old suddenly screaming about going to sleep.

My dd used to fall asleep in my arms till around ten months. From 10 months old she’s gone to sleep on her own with my just sitting in her room so she can see me from her cot.

The last five nights she’s got herself so upset, screaming, crying and making herself sick when I lie her down. She has never been like this. I have brought her into my bed and she’s fine until she has to lie down and screams again.

A
Has anyone else been through this. Is she just wanting to get her own way or is something wrong.

Is she physically capable of going to standing to sitting to lying down?

I'd stop lying her down. Put her in the cot standing up, tap the mattress and tell her to lie down. Every time she's in the cot, not just when worked up.

Then bend down in the cot and, best you can, snuggle her in there. Hand on her chest - both for reassurance and to keep her still. Stay bent down in there until she's completely settled. Any attempt to even sit up, correct immediately by repeating to lie down and keep her there

@FATEdestiny

She refuses to lie down and starts screaming and making herself sick as soon as you even put her in her cot. This has only been the last couple of days. She was brilliant and just lay in her cot before with me sitting in the corner of her room. Now it’s a constant fight with her screaming and getting herself so worked up when I put her in her cot. Even tried lying her in my bed and she screams as she doesn’t want to lie down. She’s been sick every night for the past few nights working herself up and it’s really starting to upset me

If it's come on very suddenly and with no obvious cause, then pain or illness is the most likely cause.

It could be some kind of invisible pain, like sore throat or ear ache. Could be teething or a common cold.

Is she actually physically vomiting? Teething pain maybe? I'd take her to the gp as doesn't sound right to me

She’s bringing up saliva and sometimes her dinner but this is only when she gets worked up . She’s only heaving because she’s crying. She’s not bothered by her ears or anything in the day as I contemplated maybe earache?

Once she’s asleep she sleeps fine through the night it’s like she’s petrified of going to sleep or being extremely stubborn about not going to sleep to the point she makes herself sick .
