Night weaning a 10 month old bf baby ?

My 10/11 month is getting out of control and waking up to 7 times a night 😴
I am bf him and want to night wean him. He falls asleep on his own in the cot happily at the start of the night and for everyone nap but can’t seem to put himself back to sleep in the night without milk. Shall I attempt it now? Or just wait until he’s 1 and I wean him fully? No idea what’s for the best.

If you're planning on entirely weaning him at 12 months then I'd wait and do it all together, cold turkey.

Get Dad to take over the nights for a week or two.

Are you planning on just stopping breastfeeding altogether at 1? Are you beginning to cut down now? I never really had any success with night weaning, it was essentially just sleep training. She was so cross at not bring immediately fed, she didn't even know a cup of water was there - far too busy screaming and cuddles didn't cut it to calm her down. After 3 nights she was find though, having been waking hourly before then (that was at 10.5m). Continued to feed a couple of times a day for several months after that.

I night weaned at 9 months for both my kids.

I did controlled crying and after 3-4 nights they were no longer waking fir milk. They were sleeping through unless there was an actual issue like teeth or being ill.

I would go in when they cried and run tummies, say shhhh and then leave, wait 2 mins and go back if they wake up and do the same. Then wait 4.6.8.10 mins, finally keep 10 min intervals until they go to sleep.
