Help!! Baby won't settle without pram!

Hi everyone!

My boy is 5 months old but he's always been a terrible sleeper (he has been teething since he was born so I think that's partly why) but we've never just been able to put him down and him go to sleep.
As he has become heavier and I couldn't rock him to sleep in my arms, the only other way is in the pram and then once he's asleep put him in his cot (he usually wakes up right away), but naturally coming towards 6 months we want to make the transition to him sleeping in his own room/cot.

Has anyone got any ideas of how we can help him settle in a cot for his naps and at bedtime?
We are currently trying to get him to have his naps in his cot but he's having none of it. White noise doesn't help, singing doesn't help... nothing seem to help!! And I'm very tired and going a bit crazy Smile

Meh 🤷🏼‍♀️ my 6 month old will still only settle in pram for naps. As I found putting her in cot I couldn't always gage the sleep cycle and encourage more sleep and waking up straight away so I went with pram... And as per lullaby guidance I couldn't leave the bedroom and felt rather restricted. At night time I'm sure someone will come along with much more experience

Is baby currently sleeping in the pram at night time as well as naps?

I wouldn't stress the daytime naps in the pram for now. It's useful as a way to lengthen naps if baby wakes after only one sleep cycle.

As for weaning off it, what's important is to reduce and stop the need for movement to go to sleep.

Start off with making sure the pram is stationary when baby is asleep, just rocking to get baby to sleep. So this means not going out on a walk while baby sleeps. Then start to stop the movement whenever baby is calm, but not asleep. Also reduce the tempo of the rocking. So rock the pram when baby is fussing, slow and stop when baby is calm (but not asleep), restart if fussing, stop again when calm, and so on. The natural progression from this is you just rock when first putting baby in the pram, but not rocking to sleep, then leave stationary. Then rock less and less initially until all you need do is put baby down and leave pram stationary to go to sleep. That's the time to start moving sleep into the cot.
