Snuz pod on the floor?

Hello!

Waiting to become a first time mum here so sorry for the dim question! I have a snuzpod on a stand that's going next to my bed in the bedroom. We have a single bed in the baby's room in case we get a bad sleeper and my DH with a physical job needs a proper rest (and me when it comes to him covering a night!) but the single bed is a lot lower than the main bed (we bought it thinking our baby boy will then use it one day) and I don't want to keep re adjusting the stand. Is there anything wrong with taking the snuzpod basinet bit off the stand and having it on the floor when I'm in the single bed to make swapping rooms easier? I couldn't find anything about height in regards to safe sleeping and I would be tucking it between the spare bed and a wall so it wouldn't in the way of the door and wouldn't be next to the radiator.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry probably missing something but I’m not sure why you’d want to do this? Keep the Snuzpod in the master bedroom. If one of you wants a night off from baby duty then they sleep on the single bed in the other room. Baby won’t be in their own room until they are 6 months old and by then they also will have outgrown the snuzpod and will be in a cot.

The baby changing stuff would be in the other room so I think it makes sense that I go in there with the baby if it came to it. I don't mind sleeping in the single bed as I'll be on maternity leave anyway and can always catch up on sleep in the main bed with the snuzpod back on the stand during the day. I'd still be in the same room as the baby regardless.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with putting the bassinet on the floor. I used to leave my LO in the Moses basket on the living room floor with my partner while I rested in the bedroom. I agree with the PP though, I’d keep your set up in your bedroom and let your partner take the spare bed. You need the space and you won’t be able to use the next to me properly if the bassinet is on the floor. Just take the changing stuff into the main bedroom, you’ll want it there anyway. My son is 6 months and I still mainly change him with the mat on the bed and I sit in front of it. Or on the floor.

I love my snuzpod by the way. Didn’t get it until my baby was a couple of months old and wish I’d had it from the start. Struggling to part with it now tho my LO is bursting out of it.

Good luck! X

If it’s close to the bed and lower you will have to make sure bedding doesn’t fall or drapes down on to it if that makes sense, other than that I can’t see why you couldn’t use it on the floor.

Sorry I realised I didn’t actual answer your question - yes you can of course put it on the floor! Handy for daytime naps downstairs too.

I’d still rethink your plan though. You will be regularly changing baby overnight in the very early days and you won’t want to be going down the corridor to do it so you’ll need changing supplies in your room. You also won’t necessarily know whether you’re in for a bad or good night until it’s 2am and the baby just won’t settle after a night feed. If that happens then it will be far easier for the off duty parent to get up and flop in the other room than for baby and the cot to have to move. But you’ll find your way once baby is here. Here’s to hoping for an excellent sleeper so it’s all irrelevant Grin

Keep a stocked up bag with wipes, nappies, baby grows, vests, bum cream etc

You take that with you which ever room you sleep in.

Life saver at 2/3/4 am 💤

Please don't put the snuzpod between the bed and the wall on the floor. As PP mentioned, things could fall in.

I have sometimes put our Snuzpod bassinet on the floor but I've kept it a safer distance from the bed/sofa when doing so. Agree your partner should be the one to move around at night though! I have two of these in my main bedroom and living room:

The spare room bed is new and very cosy so he probably wouldn't mind moving into it if he was tired but I really didn't mind the idea of going in there as there is a ton more space (snuzpod is a bit cramped in the main bedroom with our bed) but maybe I won't need it as I shouldn't be getting up multiple times in the night to wee at that point!

That's a good point about things potentially falling into the next to me crib. We do need to buy a crib for between the next to me and bed so I could have that in there next to the bed for if we move? Again this is all ifs and might all be wasted effort but just trying to work out convenience logistics!
