Too late for grobag?

Ok, ok, I know I should have introduced dd to a grobag by 6 months old at the latest, but she always stayed under her covers then, later once she started to crawl out it was summer anyway.

She is now 12 months old and winter is looming. Every night she crawls up to the top end of her cot out of her covers. My mum says she won't toloerate being put into a grobag now and will just cry and being restricted. Is this right or has anyone any experience of introducing a grobag at this late age.

Melly - I bought one of the Superdrug ones (a bargain at £4.99), and although I haven't actually taken it out of the packet yet, the size on the packacking is 100cm (from the shoulders obviously) so I should think it would be better for a toddler than a baby. The might do other sizes I suppose, but that was the only one in our local store.

The Superdrug ones seem like real bargains. But when I went to the Superdrug in Meadowhall I couldn' find one. Does anyone know a Superdrug in West or South Yorkshire that definitely stocks them? Thanks.

Oh and thanks everyone for your help and advice. We untucked DS's sheets/blankets and just laid them over him and he only lost them twice last night. My sinusitis is much better so I managed to not spend a couple of hours on the settee (first night for the last 9) and so I feel like a totatlly different person - in fact a human being.

The superdrug funny bunny sleeping bags are like gold dust, everywhere has sold out. I've heard on another board that the zips aren't too good on them and come undone quite easily. There still seems to be huge demand for them though. I'll have a look in Dewsbury next time I go Bozza.

Can anyone tell me whether i should also puit a blanket or duvet over the gro-bag? am worried baby will get too hot?

Lil · 13/11/2002 11:41

Blimet 4.99 is good at superdrug. On the other end of the scale they are £35 at Tom and Daisy's. M&S are in the middle with £24.

lil, they are intended to replace other bedding. The grobags come with advice about what to wear underneath according to the room temp (though must say I usually put more on ds than they recommend) and their bags are tog-rated, which I found reassuring at the little baby stage. They're not cheap though (£22.50 in John Lewis)

The Superdrug in Birmingham had lots of bunny sleeping bags at the weekend if that's any use to anyone

I'd just like to say that I did go out and buy dd a grobag and she loves it. In fact I need to buy another now as the night that it had to go in the wash she woke up cold.

Definately recommend them to anyone.

Well I finally got one. It was £16 (inc p&p) from Ebay (new). And what a RESULT!

I was concerned that 21 month old DS would not take to it but it went as follows:

Night 1 - cried when being put into sleeping bag but stopped crying before going into cot. Slept solid 12 hours despite a cold and teething with a molar.
Night 2 - laughed when going into bag and I woke him up after 12.5 hours sleep.

I am definitely a convert....

Hi All,

I will admit that I havent really been reading this thread about grobags. Its the first Ive ever heard of them. Does anyone know if they are sold in the US? I dont know if I have ever noticed them before. It sounds like something I would be interested in for my next baby.

Are they just tiny sized sleeping bags with just the head part opened? Is it something that wont go over their head while their sleeping like if squirming. Also up to what age do you normally use them. Sorry for so many questions.

SoupDragon · 26/11/2002 13:54

Have a look atthe Grobag site. Until recently they were unable to ship to the US or Canada because of some ridiculous legal problem. They can shp to the US now though.

There are many other versions of Grobags but I've heard these are good as the zipper sips from top to bottom and is trickier for the baby/child to undo themselves. I think!

threeangels · 26/11/2002 14:05

SoupDragon - Thanks. I will take a look at the site.

Bozza · 26/11/2002 14:06

They definitely couldn't go over the head three angels as you might see from soupdragon's link as they have head and arm holes. DS laughed again last night. We heard him cry out twice but that is still good considering heavy cold and molar still pushing through.

I have a query though. What should he be wearing under the sleeping bag? I've been putting him in a short sleeve body and long pjs.

bundle · 26/11/2002 14:09

bozza great news! I put dd into what she'd normally wear in bed - pj's or sleepsuit, with long sleeves at this time of year and vest if v cold.

threeangels · 26/11/2002 14:15

SoupDragon - I took a fast look over some of the site. Will look more in detail later but they are pretty neat. I will defanatly have to but 1 or 2 of them. I like that you can sit up in them and move your legs still. Its great that they have pictures on there of kids and babies wearing them. Thanks again

grommit · 26/11/2002 14:17

I bought a great fleece footless sleepsuit for dd in M&S last year - she is nearly 3 and will still wear it over her pyjamas this year. She hated the ones with the feet in as they restrict movement and are difficult to walk in!

GillW · 26/11/2002 17:54

Threeangels - they sell them in the US here . HTH

threeangels · 26/11/2002 18:20

GillW,

Thankyou for the sight.
