Awake from 4.45

I have a 7 month old son who has recently been teething a lot. I think his final tooth (for now) is through. The last 10 days have been awful with very little sleep.

Now he seems to be past the teething pain, he's been awake from about 4.45am the last few days. He basically cries for ages. We've eventually given him milk in the hope it'll soothe him but it makes bi look difference.

He used to be a good sleeper until 4 months then it's gone to pot.

We wake him at 10pm for milk then he wakes about 1-2 for milk and now he wakes at 4.45ish and won't go back to sleep but just cries.

We tried the last couple of nights not waking him at 10 but he wakes naturally at that sort of time anyway crying for milk so that's made no difference.

Any suggestions? He naps fine in the day so it can't be that.

Sorry to say that both mine did this and you have to ride it out. It will improve as you go into winter, wine did. People will tell you mess with naps but it doesn't work, if they want to wake at that time, they will. It won't last long. Good luck

Yes unfortunately a lot of babies go through this phase once or twice... however leaving him to cry will distress him and then he definitely won't go back to sleep. At that time of the night he has a very small sleep-debt and so if you want him to go back to sleep you need to get to him v quick with the milk and soothing.

Unfortunately it still might not work. It will pass! Flowers for you

Why will winter make a difference? He has black out blinds in his room so it's not light waking him up

Blackout blinds don’t tend to be 100% though, unless you have the sort that fit into runners at the side.

Winter definitely makes a difference, the birds are up at 5 am. The day has started outside at that time of day and black out blinds don't hide that. I wake up at 5am myself in summer much to my frustration. I generally sleep til 7 once the darker mornings set in

We don't want him to get in the habit of needing milk at that time though. Need him to start sleeping better not waking up for milk

I totally get that that is what you want, but unfortunately he is too little to know that you want that and just not feeding him won't give him the message. Most babies wake up several times for feeds during the night, as their stomachs are too small not to.

Mine wakes at 4am 😴 6 month old. Waiting to ride it out. I tried everything . I'm hoping it's a phase 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ and she used to sleep until 6am ish 😴
