7 month old cries to sleep - what's going wrong

My 7 month old has always wanted to sleep on someone for day naps, will feed to sleep and sleep in cot at night.

In the past month I've noticed she always cries to sleep even being cuddled / rocked / shush patted, so I've decided to try settle her in the cot with a hand on her and shushing. The screaming was worse, but what's playing on my mind is she always cries to sleep, unless being fed to sleep.

Is this normal? My first was like it too and she just grew out of it, but I guess I'm asking... Am I missing something? We're not routinely using a dummy as it falls out and seems to actually stop her getting a deep sleep. Have tried introducing a lovey today but she doesn't seem bothered...

Sucking makes crying physically impossible. This forms the basis of the No Crying Sleep Solution - keep feeding whenever baby cries. The No Cry Independent Sleep Solution is the dummy. Works exactly the same way.

Without sucking, in my experience (with a few hundred babies) there will be crying. Significantly while learning to sleep independently, less so once learnt.

I'd suggest you might benefit from using your dummy more consistently and more effectively if the crying bothers you.

Thank you Fate, I didn't know I'd had a reply as I didn't get a notification. I'll look into using the dummy as I can cope with the crying, but she can't. It stops her sleeping properly when she does drop as she's so upset, she wakes after five minutes, poor little thing.

Try the dummy and I'd also sleep with the comforter for a few nights so it smells of you and give her it.

Some children just cry before sleeping ,my ds did.

** and he hated a dummy so that didn't work either. I think it was just his way of saying he was tired and needed to sleep and felt a bit crap.

Is she perhaps a little bit too tired ? When my daughter was a baby she would cry at bedtime. Eventually I moved it back half an hour when she wasn't so tired, and she went to sleep happily and calm.
