4 year old nightmares

Hi all!!!
Looking for some reassurance or advice!
My 4 year old has nightmares a lot and cries out for us most night. Is this normal around this age for their imagination to kick in more? He also asks me if he's going to lose me or if I'm going anywhere which breaks my heart!!! Are they just more aware now and taking a while to adjust? Or is he just a sensitive soul! X

Yes, this all starts in the range of 3-5 years old.

Have you thought about things like not leaving his room dark.

Hi! He has a blue light plug in and white noise machine already! It just breaks my heart and he's getting so tired in the day time x

You could try giving him a tshirt you have worn (so it smells like you) to sleep with

Give him a lavender spray to banish the nightmares (make a big fun drama about its magic powers)

Let him have a photo of you in a frame on his bedside table

Make him wear bedsocks that are very fuzzy (armour) as they will help him sleep better

Try a magnesium supplement before bed (you will have to check the pediatric dose

My 4 yo is going through this too. It's so upsetting because you can't promise it won't happen.

I'm making sure the nightlight is on and to be honest I'm just sleeping next to him when I go to bed (carry him in with me) so if he wakes up scared I'm right there to comfort him.

Ah it's so horrible isn't it. We can't do that as we also have a 4 month old in our room and he'd wake her up too!! 😥 hopefully it's just a phase xx
