4 month old sleeping on front

My 4m old continually rolls onto her front in her sleep and its giving me the worst anxiety! I roll her back and she just does it again! I know 4m is prime time for SIDS but I also know I have anxiety issues so can someone reassure me how much of an issue this is? Shes ebf, sleeps next to me in a sidecar crib, a good weight, no health issues so no other risk factors but I cant sleep with her lying like that! Anyone had this?

Oh and shes been confidently rolling for about a month but has only started doing it in her sleep the last few nights

If she can roll back it's fine. Is she in a sleeping bag? This could stop her rolling.

She is just getting comfy, I know it's hard but try not to worry.

Try a sleep wedge, I did this with mine.

She's in a sleeping bag but it doesn't seem to stop her! Shes never taken to being swaddled at all. Is a sleep wedge like what you use for reflux? I had one of them for dd2 so may try and dig it out

Dd did this, I was told by multiple professionals that as she got there herself it was fine to leave her.

IonaLeg · 03/08/2021 16:25

It’s fine to leave them if they roll themselves. Just make sure you always set her down to sleep on her back, even if she then rolls on to her front.

I really wouldn’t advise the sleep wedge - they’re not considered safe, and are more of a risk to her than her rolling herself on to her front.

If she's got the strength to roll herself over, she's got the strength to lift her head to avoid suffocating herself so don't worry.
Don't put anything in the cot to try and stop her rolling such as wedges, nests, rolled up towels etc. They're not safe and much more dangerous than her rolling.
Check the mattress is as safe as it can be (such as being ventilated etc) and that there are no loose blankets or toys in the cot and try not to worry.

Turns out we didn't have a wedge anyway, just changed the angle of the next2me for DD2. Feel better about it now, thanks everyone
