6 month old kicking legs in his sleep

How do I get him to stop?
He used to do it just before he woke up in the morning but is now started doing it around 2am onwards mostly still asleep but can wake himself doing it and tbh it's driving me insane.

Put your hand, quite firmly, on his knees (while he's not awake, in that light sleep phase) and hold them still for him.

@FATEdestiny

We hold his legs and give him his dummy then will do it again this can last for an hour or so till he's back to sleep, could it be developmental as he would always sleep through till around half 8 and would only do it around 7 for 10 minutes then go back to sleep till 8.30.

It's a sign he's in a light sleep. So maybe look to tweak his daytime routine a bit in order to encourage deeper sleep at night.

At 6 months old the usual culprit for light sleep at night is calorie deficit from the daytime. Calorific need goes up significantly around 6 months (alongside gross motor skill developments). The amount of milk baby can take per feed can't increase, it's limited by stomach volume. So the way to get more calories in us more feeds per day. So make your feeds closer together.

This is often complicated by the fact that weaning starts. But early weaning foods are low calorie and baby needs mire calories. So it's important not to replace milk feeds with food, have food while also maintaining (and increasing) milk intake.

Could also be a sign that sleep routine in the daytime is ready to be altered a bit.

We started weaning at 5 months and he loves it. Gets dinner every night. Takes 6/7 oz bottles and hasn't woke at night for a feed since 3 months old. The feeds are 3 hrs apart and I don't think he would take them closer together.

His daytime routine is a riot he will only sleep for 30/45 minutes and that's on me or in his pram won't nap in his cot at all.
