how to stop my 6 month old baby nursing to sleep???

I am completely guilty of letting my baby fall asleep nursing and it is now seemingly the only the way to get her off to sleep (unless she is exhausted and falls asleep being in the baby carrier).

She also sleeps with me in my bed (partner designated to sofa) but now she is getting big and wriggly I need to start thinking about putting her in her cot...

Any advice and tips welcome as to break the nursing to sleep habit and get her in her own cot!!

-How do you get your LO in a cot?
-How did you stop feeding to sleep?
-And what age did all this happen?

Kelly mom is a nice website to read about breastfeeding kellymom.com/bf/normal/comfortnursing/

It’s brilliant isn’t it? It’s what they want and it works with no tears.
We stopped around 16 months with each child when we started laying down with them til they were almost asleep. No tears.

Sorry, meant to add they always went in their cot after a feed even if asleep. Just feed her to sleep and pop her in her cot after each feed. She may still end up with you some nights

It was the same for me as DGFB. Stopped at around.15 months because she wasn't dropping off.

Stopped feeding to sleep at 12 months (DH would put her back in the cot asleep). If she woke up at night, one of us would either try to rock her back to sleep, but at some point she'd just end up in our bed. At 12 months, we transitioned to rocking to sleep for about a month and then sitting down next to the bed and holding her hand. No tears from any of us surprisingly! She still comes over every once in a while, if she wakes up at 4am-ish.

It works brilliantly, and is completely normal and natural. Don't beat yourself up. It won't be forever, so for now enjoy watching your beautiful baby's eyes droop to sleep while baby is in their happiest place.

Still feeding to sleep at 10 months, I've booked a night away in 6 weeks and decided to bring her along, I can't see us breaking the habit anytime soon!
