9 week old sleep

My baby is 9 weeks and sleeps at night maybe 2-3 in a row before needing a feed. This has been the case since he was born, although then it was hourly...
I just wondered what's normal?
Could it Be he's not staying full for long enough?? I'm breast feeding and have an over supply so I think he's getting more foremilk and thus not full for long enough?

Could you try expressing abit of the oversupply so to speak, then giving him a feed so he gets the more fatty milk?

I’ve you’ve got an oversupply then expressing will only encourage more milk production.
Babies are designed to wake frequently, it’s normal (but knackering!) sleep behaviour

I’m afraid that sounds good to me!

@Dils1990 I'm not clear what you mean.

Say you take baby to bed with you at 10pm, then you get 2-3h in a row, say to 1am and then hourly feeds from 1am until... when?

What's baby feeding and sleeping like in the daytime? Is that also hourly?

Dils1990 · 13/07/2021 13:26

@FATEdestiny

He will nap in the day well, usually has 2 hr nap mid afternoon and then maybe hour long naps.

At night sometimes he might have a 3 hour stretch but not always. Then it will be roughly two hour sleeps and feeding.

In the first 3 or 4 months woth a breastfed baby, feeding every 2h over the whole of 24h a day is not unusual.

It would be a problem if, for example, you were feeding every 3h during the daytime and then every 1h during the night time. You'd want to reverse that.

But if baby is (for now, it will change) having one sleep and one feed in every 2h cycle, 24h a day, then this isn't anything to worry bout and is normal for the age.

Try introducing a dumny if you have bf established. This allows baby to comfort suck to get to sleep, but in an independent way and without feeding.
