Forgotten, what should I be doing?

My first baby didn't nap longer than 30 mins for the first year, it was really tough.

With the second I was determined to encourage good sleep habits early on, and she ended up being a champion sleeper (probably more nature than nurture).

Third baby and I can't remember what I should be doing to help sleep associations. She's 9 weeks, BF. Sleeps well at night, but naps are not easy as hard to get any routine with older siblings.

Currently she naps best in buggy, occasionally takes a Dummy, but frequently is an overtired mess by the evening. I use the sling a lot too. Has been awake for 90 mins now and can't get her to sleep despite boob, Dummy, pushchair and lying down next to her.

Worried about downward spiral after 4 month sleep regression as sleep deprivation is so tough on my mental wellbeing.

Bouncer chair not an option as not safe with older siblings around.

The golden rule is to limit awake time. If in doubt, make awake time less. As a general rule though, awake windows want to be around double previous nap length, plus or minus 15 mins. Limiting awake times stops the over tired cycle.

At 9 weeks amd with older siblings, naps in something that moves will be your best bet. Cot naps need you to be with her, difficult with siblings. Sling naps are very difficult to transition out of, so independant sleep harder. So you want something you can move on the spot to get her to sleep, stop while asleep, restart movement when stirring awake and try to lengthen nap.

A pram pushed back and forth on the spot works for this. So if you have that set up, do that. I'd counter your claim about the bouncer. As a mum of four I think bouncy chairs are the ideal place for baby to sleep when you have a toddlers / preschoolers at home too. Much easier to continue play with toddler whilst foot bouncing the bouncer. Just my opinion tho.
