Sensor mat for baby cot

Hello

Can anyone recommend a good sensor mat for the detects if the baby is still breathing?

There seems to be so many and I don't want to waste money. I don't need anything too fancy i just want to know that my baby is breathing ok.

Thank you!

To be honest I found the mat a right faff because I kept forgetting to turn it off before taking baby out in my sleep deprived state which would then scare the crap out of everyone and baby would be wide awake.

I switched to an Owlet sock and much preferred it. They are pricier but it has been worth every penny. I soon learned how to predict when he was going to wake up from a nap based on the heartrate. It has also been very reassuring when he has been unwell.

Unlike the mats they also work if baby is in with you or if say you were to nod off whilst feeding.

@squee123 how does it alert you if there is a problem? And how do you know what heart rate and oxygen is normal etc?

I use the angel care baby breathing monitor. I will be honest, right at the very beginning I would forget to turn it off but like anything it comes with habit and you get used to it and turn it off without even thinking. Baby is 16 months today and I wouldn't be without it. X

@Couldntthinkofausername24 ok thanks. Is it a faff to turn off? How is it turned off? Which model do you have? the reviews are really mixed.

No its really easy. We have Angelcare AC127. You press the left hand bottom button until it says on or off and then the top one to confirm. Im not sure how the owlet works but if its the one I'm thinking of then I think it monitors heart rate. For me I'm too anxious and that would stress me right out. Id be constantly googling his current rate. My son was born with sepsis and has had numerous hospital admissions since so to know that beep on the monitor shows me that he is still alive makes me feel 100% better. I see the logic behind the owlet but my own personal view is that for me it wouldn't work. X
