Newborn not waking for night feeds

15do DD has been exclusively FF for a week now. Initially I was setting my alarm to make sure she fed 3 hourly, but found she was naturally waking then anyway so stopped the alarm.

For the past 2 nights she hasn't woken as regularly. On Friday night she missed her 11pm feed so went 6 hours between feeds. Last night, she fed at 10.40, had a top up at 11.15 but then didn't feed again until 7.00am!

She was awake for much of the evening and she was unsettled following her last feed. I didn't get her down properly until about 1.30am.

She slept soundly and then only took half her feed at 7am before dozing off again, so she didn't seem ravenous. Otherwise, she seems happy and content. She feeds well during the day, usually 3 hourly and the occasional top up too.

Should I be worried that she's going so long at night at her age? Should I start setting an alarm again?

I wouldnt set an alarm but I would lift them for a feed before you go to sleep- I always did a dream feed at 10.30/11pm. They ddidnt even wake often just latched on and drunk.

Then if they woke in the night I'd feed again and if they didnt, meh.

If she's feeding enough during the day then I wouldn't wake her at night.

In a 24 hour period they need around 2.5 ounces of formula for every pound of body weight. If she’s having this, weight gain is fine and she’s having plenty of dirty/wet nappies then I wouldn’t be concerned. By 2 weeks old both of mine managed a longer stretch overnight- typically it was from 10pm to about 3am.

Oh and I would always lift for a dreamfeed at around 10/11 even if they were still asleep to get more sleep whilst I’m sleeping! I did this until 6.5 months with DC1 and am still doing it with DC2 who is 4 months.
