Have you got a sleepyhead ?

Most of my friends have and recommend sleepyheads for babies, they say it’s a life saver - very easy to transport and convenient for a day time. I know they are not recommended by NHS of luluby trust and I am aware that when not supervised (eg. at night) babies should be sleeping on a flat, relatively hard surface but it does look very cosy for a daytime naps. What do you guys think?

A firm, flat and waterproof mattress in good condition is recommended as the safest option for all times baby sleeps - not just night time.

That said, all parents should be informed of the risks and then can choose to manage those risks in a way they think is right. Many parents dont follow every single aspect of safe sleep advice.

This should not be something you seek advise from others of. If the worst should happen and your baby died, then could you live with yourself on the basis that you took that risk because others said they did it and they were safe?

I'm not anti-sleep aids like the sleepyhead. I didn't follow 100% of safe sleep advice. But if you are going to use one you should do so as an informed decision knowing the risks and understanding them. Then deciding that despite the facts, you have still judged the risk to be worth taking. That is a very personal decision and other peoples thoughts should not come into it.

Looking through the Lullaby Trust website is the best thing you can do.

I think many a new parent has been in diabolical tired states sticking to those petrifying fucking guidelines.

Because the outcome is so bad, we just do, don’t we.

But no, this time I’m getting the sleepyhead. I’m letting him nap on me for as long as he wants. I’m letting him co sleep from as young as he needs.

The end.

We had one and bought the grand for afterwards.. my child has never slept through for one single night and he’s 18 months old.
Thinking against it for my baby due in October..

Here here @FTEngineerM another petrified first mom because of the lullaby trust and safer sleep guidance that was rammed down my neck when my mind was tired and brain unable to think about things sensibly..
