2.5 yo separation anxiety

My LO has recently been suffering with a bad case of separation anxiety. She goes to nursery twice a week and normally runs through the door excited but the last week She’s been screaming and clinging to me - it’s just heartbreaking. I’m assured she settles quickly when I leave but I can’t shake the feeling all day that I left her so upset. Also at bedtime she only wants me to do bath and stories. I’ve had to work the last few nights and my OH said she literally screamed the house down for me. I told her I was leaving said goodbye and that I’d see her in the morning which she happily nodded to but my OH said when it came to it she was hysterical. My question is do I give in to her demands at bedtime and always do bed and bath when she asks for me or should I practice separating from her even though it makes her upset. Also any tips for nursery drop off? How long does sep anxiety last at this age? I feel so sad that she’s sad and just want to do the right thing. I just worry giving into her could make it worse? I’m back on day shifts so will be around in the evenings so could put her down every night but it’s nice for my OH to share the load - especially as I solo parent her the days she’s not in nursery (no family input etc). Anyone been through similar with this age? X

I would just do her bath and bedtime of you can. Consistency will help and there are many years of bedtimes to come - she may well swap and insist on her Dad doing bedtime in a few years time. If possible, try to both be involved in bedtime, so she gets the best of both worlds.

Regarding nursery - the best advise I can give is to check your own reaction. Be very positive about nursery at all times. Not just going to/from nursery, at home too. Talk about the great/exciting things she does there. Be excited about it, never let her see you are worried about drop off. Ask her about specific things she has done at nursery, talk in detail about it and be enthusiastic. Your enthusiasm will rub off on her.
