Help please! My dd is like a different child.

My dd has always been a good sleeper (one feed in the night since a few weeks old, pretty much abandoned by 7m) and a happy soul.

Gradually, in the space of the last 5 days, she has ceased to nap for more than 20-30 mins during the day, and wakes several times in the night. She shouts and grumbles constantly, and wakes crying or screaming (not burbling, as she used to do). It is as if she has been given amphetamines.

She has 6 teeth and I can see more coming, hence I have assumed that teething pain is at the heart of the problem. But Medised makes no difference to her sleep or her grouchiness. She is not pulling her ears and does not react if I touch or clean them; her temp is normal. She eats her solids well though she gets bored, but will not b/f except once in the night - she just pulls away or bites me after a few sucks.

I don't want to give her too many drugs - I feel bad giving her Medised once a day (I use calgel and powders too). But I almost don't recognise her, she is so changed - she has not smiled or made eye contact with me all day. I wish I had made a GP appointment.

Is this 'just' teething? Any ideas?

I should have said, she is nearly 8m now.

Perhaps shes either under the weather, got a bit of a cold coming on or is teething. My DD has been exceptionally grouchy recently due to illness and teeth and seems to have lived on calpol and nurofen. I'd say give either one of those a go. Medised doesn't seem to do it for my DD either. One dose a day for a few days won't harm.

She was calmer today after a reasonable night's sleep, thank goodness - I think the really hyper behaviour was down to lack of sleep. Two little canines are pushing their way through ... I shall definitely give Nurofen a try - thanks

the canines are supposed to be horrid and painful so it makes sense
