Dropping the night feeds

I was just wondering when your LO dropped their night feed did they gradually take less on a feed or did they just not wake up one night?

My LO takes 6oz in the day but is now taking less and less in the night. Just wondering if he is likely to drop the feed soon.

I would try to resettle back yo sleep without feeding at every wake up. When ready to drop feeds the resettle is more likely to be successful.

Not sure how old yours is? I’ve had 4 girls and they’ve all dropped their night feeds around 8/9 months (all breastfed); they just stopped waking up - it’s horrible the first few times as I was awake worrying something was wrong 😂

Mine were about 8/9 months, once they were on 3 good meals a day. I reduced the amount and then just stopped offering and resettled without milk if they woke.

My first dropped them at 8 months, second still wakes up for a feed many nights at 20 months!

That's a good idea thank you @FATEdestiny

Oh I meant did they lower the amount they were taking first or did they just stop completely sorry! But I know every baby is different.

I think as he is taking less than half of a normal feed it is potentially more for comity now

With my first I just stopped offering a feed at 3am. She soon got fed up with waking up for the offer of water. It probably involved a bit of leaving her to cry but I don't remember this being a huge problem.

Second one screams the house down when I don't get the boob out straight away! Don't want her to wake up the eldest so I just go with it, and because she's older and wiser I imagine it will be a tough habit to break!!
