Help new born won't go on his back

Help! My newborn will not sleep or indeed spend any time on his back in his Moses basket or his next to me crib or anywhere.
Obviously safe sleep guidance states babies must sleep on their backs. My eldest DS was happy on his back from day 1 and I really don't know what to do with this one! He is only 5 days old. Been propping him up on my chest and swapping with my husband every couple of hours so we can get some sleep but that's not sustainable or particularly safe.

Anyone else been through this and got any tips or techniques to get my LO used to sleeping on his back please?

Hi and congratulations on your new arrival :)

My first port of call would be the health visitor if you're in good contact with them? My DD is now 3 and I can't quite remember how old she was when I realised she wouldn't sleep on her back (maybe few weeks? A couple of months?) But it's done her no damage at all lying on her side. I think you've got to keep in mind that if they sleep on the same side all the time their heads can flatten on that side (I think?) so just keep a tab on it but, although the advice is to sleep baby on back, I just wanted to reassure you that it CAN be done on the side. My daughter had no trouble and I feel like I worried for nothing. Then again, my daughter MAY have been a bit older than newborn... I'm not sure. (Sorry if that's not really helpful... just didn't want to read and run).

My little boy was like this. He had reflux though so that was why he didnt like being on his back. Luckily for us he would go down at night but never in the day we use to hold him all the time.

Mine was like this. Hated being on his back. I think, like the previous poster, he had reflux. We slightly propped up the next to me crib so it was raised at one end. We also bought this support thing from Amazon, think it’s called baby moov, the baby lays in it and it gives support and stops them rolling. Make sure baby is properly burped in case they’re in pain. Ours got better, although as soon as he was in a cot, he rolled into his side and front.
