My 5 month old has been great at night times sleeping, goes down really well on her own after bath and story by 8pm and wakes at 6.45am. Night time we've cracked it (for now...) daytime not so good. She cat naps, maybe 20-30 mins then wide awake. She does tend to get tired after an hr or so of being awake and then really kicks off and cries when trying to get her to sleep. We lead quite a busy life, in and out so not always possible to put her to her bed. She will sleep in the car, pushchair or on me but struggles to get herself to sleep during the day, I have to ssshhh and wobble her to sleep. Can anyone offer advice on how to start getting her to settled herself and to try and sleep a bit longer. Thanks

Have you tried a white noise machine? I got mine from Amazon it's called dream egg and it really helped my little girl settle to sleep also really good at blocking out other noises. We also have blackout blinds in her room especially now it's lighter later. Does she have a dummy or comforter? When we wanted our little girl to sleep on her own she gave her time to do it I found something online where you went in at intervals but allowed them time to try and settle themselves. It was put down leave for 3 mins if they are crying at that point go in again and reassure them go again for 5 and so on 7 and 10. We rarely ever got to 7 but it helped her understand she could settle herself and her herself to sleep without us needing to help her. She's a fantastic sleeper now. Worth a try :)

A dummy may help her get to sleep without crying.
