In the last month my previously self settling at bedtime DD has decided to drop her last nap and now doesnt seem to want to settle at bedtime (poss a bit overtired, but also trying to crawl and just cannot seem to switch off when she goes into the crib). This led to several bedtime meltdowns with lots of crying. For the past few nights i’ve been feeding her to sleep which is working, but i’m terrified it’s going to ruin her nightime sleep and she’ll start waking up again and only be settled by milk. This hasnt been the case so far and she’s continued to self settle herself at night by sucking her thumb.

So I guess I just want to know, has anyone else bottle fed their 7mo to sleep and it not turned into an issue? Because it’s definately preferrable to the crying at the moment...

Also, she used to just suck her thumb to go to sleep but now seems to not want to do that at bedtime (poss because of the crawling thing I mentioned)

We fed our FF baby to sleep for maybe a year and a bit. She was still waking for a bottle in the night and managed to wean jet off that at about 15m. Unfortunately once feeding to sleep and the night feed stopped a 20min bedtime and night feed turned into 1-2hrs battle for both bed and night wakings. I actually wish we'd kept the night feed for longer now 😂

Ah gosh, yes settling was taking a good 30-45mins even when she was sucking her thumb, longer if she was having a meltdown. Feeding to sleep is so quick... I know she’s only doing it because she’s knackered from dropping her last nap, so it’ll probably lose it’s effectiveness anyway once she adapts more to that 😂
