Sleeping in restaurants??

DD is 11 months old - she is quite precious in that she will sleep really well if conditions are conducive - day time naps work well if in the buggy or at home (in the buggy) - complete disaster if I try and wheel her in to anywhere else other than home, she just pops awake. So - she will sleep 2 hours ish if conditions are 'right' and about 20-30 mins of not. She goes to bed at 6:30pm and cannot seem to cope with even a 15 minutes delay before there's a melt down.

DH is talking about taking her on hols and out to resturants at night......help.

That is difficult - it's balancing keeping a rather delicate but sanity-maintaining routine with wanting to do family stuff. She may well change and start to settle, so that if you booked a holiday for when she was (say) 18 months, you'd feel a bit more confident. The problem is you don't really know until you try. Perhaps the different environment and very busy times of being on holiday would distract her?

Have you ever taken her out in the evening? Ds has a meltdown if we are late getting him to bed at home but if we are out he seems to enjoy it and go into naughty 'I should be in bed but I'm out on the town' mode.

Sorry for not replying sooner! That's interesting about the getting in to party mode and staying up - if she usually goes to bed at 6:30pm, how late do you think we could push it? I could see her copi9ng well if we sat down to dinner at 6 and got her back and in to bed by 7:30 or 8 but I really can't see it working if it's going out at 7 and coming back at 10pm...

I guess you try it and see really! If you atart out going somewhere close to your hotel then you can just go back when she needs it. Ds is 10 months, he has been to several weddings etc and stayed up until midnight or so. He stays awake and happy until about 8 or 9 I suppose then dozes in a sling. He normally goes to bed around 6.30 too.

oh cool - that sounds promising. Perhaps we'll try it this weekend going for a pub meal...

Just go for it. Ds is a real creature of habit at home but is very portable too! We took him to a folk festival during the summer and he just dozed all evening and then fell fast asleep back at the tent and slept through every night
