Baby in own room for first time and has rolled onto front - should I move him back?

Just watching on the monitor - he has more room in his own cot. He can roll both ways. He has stirred and rolled onto his front and gone back to sleep (which is unheard of in the next to me!! I'm always settling him). Do I leave him or roll him onto his back? I have first night nerves leaving him in his own room as it is. He is 6 months!

No it’s fine - put them on their back to sleep but if they roll themselves over in the night it it isn’t a problem.

(Mine slept better once they started rolling onto their tummies!)

I would roll him back, reeeeally carefully, you will not worry so much that way so chances are you will get more rest for you.

As pp - after 6 months if they roll themselves over to the front it’s fine. Mine did this as so much more room in a full sized cot than a next to me. You’ll still be checking the monitor every 5 mins though! Give it a few days and you’ll be too busy enjoying not being disturbed by a shuffling baby to worry

Rolling onto the front at 6 months is fine

I remember that feeling very well of being really worried when DS did this. But he slept so much better on his front (put down on his back). Although I was planning to keep him in with me for as long as possible, he went into his own room at 5 months for a number of reasons.

I did go out and buy one of those pads to put under him that detects breathing and that made me feel a lot better about it. As soon as he was in his own room and rolling onto his front he slept soooooo much better and I began to feel human again. (Didn't stop me constantly worrying though!).

He found his thumb at 7 months too and has slept through ever since Smile

If they can roll back and forth themselves there's not a lot you can do.

Put them down on their back and then leave them.

when my DD first started to roll onto tummy (probably about 7/8 months) I at first went in and turned her back.

No sooner had I left the room again she had rolled back to her tummy

Thanks everyone I think DP is more freaked out than me haha. I'm getting my hopes up that he might sleep well for once 😂 wishful thinking I think! But he did fully wake up, open his eyes, roll around for a bit and go back to sleep and he has never done that. Ever!

Put him down on his back, and let him flip onto his front.
Hope you get a lovely nights sleep!

I'd leave at 6 months, I assume he could roll back again. One of mine slept on front once they could roll and the other one didn't until much older. How perfect he's in his room and not needing re settled, enjoy your sleep and don't spend it glued to monitor! I wouldn't have dared creep in to roll my first having spent so long getting him to sleep! Also didn't have a video monitor!!
