Changing from sleeping bag to duvet and pillow

My DD is turning two next month and we have recently found out we are expecting baby number 2 in September.
My DD is currently still in her cot with a sleeping bag but we need to move her into the bigger spare room when baby arrives, and there she will be in a cot bed.
We thought her moving rooms, moving type of bed and changing from sleeping bag to duvet would be too much of a change so we plan to do it in stages.
So last night we switched from sleeping bag, to pillow and duvet. My DD has always been a great sleeper and putting her down for naps and bed had always been easy. However, since switching to duvet, she hates it and refuses to be covered by it!
She cries when we put her down and then when she gives in, she ends up sleeping uncovered either horizontally or upside to where her pillow is. Last night, before we went to bed I went in and covered her up, but at midnight she woke and cried and then refused to be covered again.

Any advice? Do we just leave her to it and hope she will eventually be happy being covered by the duvet?

You could try a bag with legs and then it wouldn't matter if she was in a cot or a bed.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I’d personally go back to the sleeping bag, wait for some warmer weather and do it then. That way it won’t really matter how much or little of her is covered by the duvet. We took DD to the kids section in IKEA and she chose her new bedding set and also a new soft toy to go to bed with. She didn’t really stay under the covers very well initially (hence making the switch in summer) but there were no complaints or issues with sleep. You have until September which is still plenty of time even to make the changes slowly and hopefully we’ll get some warmer weather soon! If you have an immediate concern about her climbing in the bag then you can also get toddler sleeping bags with feet.

There's no reason she can't move rooms to her cotbed and stay in a sleeping bag for now if that's what she prefers.

Yes I don't get why you wouldn't stay with the sleeping bag? Our DD never actually liked sleeping bags - she moves too much and likes to sleep on her belly. So I've ordered a few fleece sleepsuits, 2 sizes up, and I just use them as footed sleeping bags over a normal cotton sleepsuit. I've cut the sleeves off so it really is luke a sleeping bag, with feet...
