Sleep sack

Hello, wondering if anyone here could help. A friend kindly gifted us a sleep sack when I had my baby. Its basically a big rectangle which zips up the middle (can't think of another way to describe it lol). He uses it for everything. Inside the pram, in the cot, normal naps. Trouble is he is growing out of it and he never got on with the normal ones that went over his shoulders. I can't find anything like this anywhere so thought I would ask here. He is five months and we can no longer swaddle because he is starting to roll over,
Thank you in advance

Could you not go back to the friend and ask them where they got it from?

Pawprints2017 · 15/03/2021 18:08

Thank you for replying, someone gifted her it from abroad unfortunately!

Ah right. You could always ask them what they are called and it might help with your search. Or maybe post a photo of it here and someone might recognise it.

How come the zip in the middle ones off amazon are not good? I'm not quite sure what makes this one different?

Have a look at the zipadeezip sleeping bags, sounds similar to what you are describing!

Gro bags?

TooMinty · 15/03/2021 21:47

TK Maxx is a good place to get Grobags at a discount. I also found Sainsbury's sleep sacks were pretty good quality, can't remember if the zip was at the front or the side though...

Like this. I drew over babies head. Thank you for everyone's suggestions. @poppyseeds13 these look really good, thank you! I've never seen those before.

I am not sure that looks safe for unsupervised sleep, probably only suitable for naps if you are watching the baby the whole time. Gro bags are Lullaby Trust certified I think.

Pawprints2017 · 15/03/2021 23:25

Oh, OK thank you! I asked the health visitor too and she said it was safe. I'll have a look at some of the other suggestions here or come up with a different plan

Does he not have his arms free in that? Never seen anything like it before

Patapouf · 15/03/2021 23:38

I'm afraid your health visitor was wrong when they said that was safe. The reason baby sleeping Bach's have shoulders is to stop baby from wriggling down and suffocating. To be safe it needs to be impossible for the baby's face to be covered by the fabric.

Pawprints2017 · 15/03/2021 23:59

@dementedpixie this photo was from quite a while ago when we were still swaddling. Gave that up a while ago because he can flip over now.

I guess this is the reason I'm not finding them. I will look into the ones suggested or maybe just try blankets but he wriggles them off in no time

Grobags are good for wriggly babies (and toddlers, we used them up to age 3). You can get different tog ratings for winter/summer and there's a little chart that comes with it to tell you what layers baby should wear underneath. As pp said, they fit snugly and don't come up past the shoulders so there's no way your baby's face can get covered.
