DD is in a Moses basket and is almost too big for it. What would anyone recommend - a cot or cotbed and why?

ds had cotbed that he used for 4.5 yrs, depends if you are going to have another child in the next few yrs I think.
If you are then a cot is probably more sensible cos you can move dc1 into bed and new baby into cot.

Yeah - hoping that DH will indulge me with another!

A cot. If you buy a cot bed you will still have to buy a full sized single bed later.

I'd say cot bed. The bed should last as a single until dd is easily 5 or 6. I got one for mine and it's been through 3 kids, soon 4 so feel I got my money's worth. Freinds with cots - they always seemed so tiny & dc grew out of cot and had to be moved into bed earlier. Saying that, I converted mine to bed from cot at quite a young age.

If your dd isn't really small for her age I'd go for cot bed as she's likely to be cramped pretty quick ime

Nab, I ws going to say a cotbed, as we had a cot and ds was too big for it at 19 months and we cought him a toddler bed (same size as a cot bed) but i guess it depends on what your future plans are .

cotbed- when its turned into a bed its very low- so no "mum, i need a wee" and having to help them in and out of bed in the night- worth those few extra pennies also not as far to fall and therefore no need for bed guards etc.

Depends on whether you're having another baby soon or not. As when the toddler stitches the cot to a cotbed you may need it for a new baby.

If its your last baby then they can be good as you would only buy a toddler bed next anyway.

I thnk that a cot bes is best in my opinion, bith my boys have cotbeds, one has been turned in to the bed and the other has it as a cotbed.

I find cots really small and cot beds are wider. There was no real difference in price for ours. We got really plain ones from toys r us and bought the really expensive matresses, as we figured they would be in them for a while. it saves buying a toddler bed, as a big beg from 18 months which is when I had to out DS1 in it as a bed would have been too big (he kept jumping out*

Depends on if you are ahving another child and how big your room is - you might end up going from a moses basket, to a cot, to an infant bed, to a big bed - what a pain.
Mind you, we had a cot bed and didn't really use it as such - as soon as we took the sides off, before long, we got him a 'big boys bunk beds' and he slept on the bottom, then up the laddder and he slept there and no problem of falling out.
If you plan to utilise the cotbed until age 5-6, then it is worth its money. If not the cotbed is a bit of a waste of time - better with a cot.
