Can I do anything to improve 3 month old's sleep?

Currently he sleeps approx 9pm-midnight, feeds, then sleeps 12.30-3ish, feeds, sleeps 3.30-5ish when he is wide awake for a spell and I usually end up feeding back to sleep and bed sharing til 8ish with intermittent sleep as he's a bit unsettled / active. He's ebf, slept on me for first 10 weeks, has done very occasional 4.5 stretches. We use white noise and a crib vibrator.

I know every baby is different but things I read and hear suggest 1-2 night feeds is more common at this age.

Is there anything I could / should try to get him sleeping in longer stretches??

The key thing is - do you try to resettle him without feeding? Do you have a way of resetting without feeding (ie dummy)?

Many babies don't stop waking up, it's just that they wake and resettle without feeding.

Hi @Fatedestiny thanks for the reply. We resettle him by turning the white noise back on and rocking the cot a bit when we hear him stirring which works if we catch him as he starts to stir. If that doesn't work I just presume he's hungry and needs to feed. Occasionally I try hand on chest and shushing with little success.

He won't take a dummy despite several tries... even though he seems to suck on anything and everything else at the mo! He sucks his thumb a lot which seems to soothe himself to an extent but not enough to go to sleep.

At the first 2 wakings he seems hungry, but should I be trying other ways to settle him before feeding?

Can anyone advise? I just don't know what I'm supposed to do to get him sleeping longer. Tonight the first stretch was 3 hours, which is fine, but second stretch only 1.5 hour and it'll probably be hourly for the rest of the night.

Like you have already said every baby is different so it's really difficult to give advice on what you could do differently. I have my baby 12 weeks, he goes 4 to 5 hours now in between feeds but he takes a dummy and don't feed to sleep. Is your baby having long naps during the day? I remember someone suggested feeding them more during the day so they don't feed a lot at night. However, if your baby is using feed to self soothe it's a difficult one. Sorry perhaps not what you wanted to hear

I introduced a dream feed when my DD was that age. She went down about 8pm and I'd do a dream feed just before 10 when I was going to bed and it gave us a couple extra hours.

Thanks both. I just feel I'm doing something fundamentally wrong but can't work out how to fix it!

He has around 3-5 hours of daytime sleep over 3/4 naps. He doesn't feed much til after 3pm despite me offering the breastfeeding regularly.

I don't understand how to stop feeding to sleep if he wakes up and sometimes is genuinely hungry and other times just wants it for comfort!

I guess I will just keep trying other methods of resetting before offering the breast!
