(not related to overheating/SIDS, i mean - am happy he's not too hot)

on another thread there was a link to a babyworld (i think) page suggesting after a month it's not good to swaddle

i don't get it - if a baby is only swadled when asleep, how can be such a bad thing?

have tried ds2 (3.5mo) in a grobag but he wakes often crying

swaddled he sleeps better (not brilliantly, but better)

have spent a bit of time googling and maybe it's swaddling babies when they're awake that's an issue once they're > 1mo

can't find anythiong to suggest it's a problem for sleeping (as long as they're not too hot and their legs aren't swaddled out straight)

That's a new one on me.

Both mine liked being swaddled. I think I did this up to about 4 months with ds (not every night though).

I've only swaddled when awake when I was struggling to breastfeed dd (she did the startle reflex a lot).

Why would you swaddle a baby when it's awake. I can understand the temptation with a mobile 8 month old though

I think its ok. The Baby Bliss author Harvey Karp is a paedeatrician and he says its fine up to 6 months or 1 year I think.

I swaddled my son (sleeping!) until he was four-ish months. He crawled at six and a half months, walked at ten and a half months, no problem..
