Bedtime for 2 month old

Just wondering what time you put your 2 month old down for the night? And do you stay upstairs with them once their down (since they're meant to sleep in same room as you for first 6 months?)

We currently put our LO down at 11ish after his last feed, he the wakes at either 3 or 4 for a feed then goes down again until about 6.30am. Should I be putting him down earlier?

We tried at 9 the other night and he didn't actually go down until nearer 11?! Will he just gradually move to an earlier time? Or how should I adjust it?

My ds used to go down that sort of time. It naturally moved earlier over time. He just showed signs of getting tired a little earlier and we followed his cues. Currently at 4.5 months he goes down around 8.

If you want to move it earlier (rather than just wait and let it happen eventually) you just need to do it slowly - we moved bedtime from 9.30 to 7.30 around 3 months by moving the start of the bedtime process earlier by 15 mins every three days or so (and if it started taking significantly longer to get her down we hung out at the new time a bit longer). Took a few weeks but much more likely to be successful than moving it by a lot in one night, as they are conditioned to fall asleep at their usual time and that needs changing gradually.

We did put her down in her cot alone, as there's no way she would have slept in the living room while we were still up, though I think a lot of people with better sleepers do that. By the time she was spending more than about an hour in the room alone she was past the 2-4 month window of highest risk for SIDS, and sleep space is compatible with all the other recommendations, so we decided we were comfortable with the risk, but that's obviously personal choice - I know some people wouldn't be.
