2 year old won't stay in bed...

Hi everyone! I wonder if you can help Smile
My 2 year old (26 months) recently moved into his 'big boy bed' which he absolutely LOVES! He likes showing it to people, sitting on it and up until now... used to love sleeping in it Confused
Two nights ago our neighbours child (who shares a wall with him) had a horrendous screaming tantrum while my son was asleep and woke him up after 10 mins... she was banging on the walls, screaming shouting and the parents too. My son started shaking and crying, clearly terrified of this and now if frightened to sleep in his room. We have tried sitting in the room and edging out, for which he pops straight back up and wants to leave the room. We have tried the super nanny technique of leaving the room and putting him back in, for which he was happy to be led back into bed but then straight back up if we leave the room. We kept at this back and forth but then it got to the point of where he refused to even get in bed so we unfortunately gave up, put him in bed with us with another bottle and carried him into bed when he was asleep, not good. He has also since been waking up at 5:20am (usually slept till 7.30/8, with a strict 7pm bedtime).
Just wondering if any of you have any tips for this and to get him to fall asleep in his own bed like he used to? I'm guessing will just be a case of perseverance of putting him back in until he gets the message but any tips would be massively appreciated! Grin Thanks in advance! X

How about a light/ music machine, he’s probably anxious about the silence after such a wake up?
As for waking up early, he’s either going through a fun stage of early waking which will pass, teething or it’s time to look at his naps in the day and cut them back.

That's a great idea! Maybe even go back to the trusty old white noise machine. Will give it a shot tonight!
Also, did anyone ever use a baby gate on bedroom? I've heard works really well

Oh god yes we have a stair gate on the bedroom, even when my LO was still in the cot I could leave her in her room whilst I showered etc. make sure their furniture is bolted to the walls.
