how do I get ds to sleep in his cot in the daytime?

or the title could read: how do I stop getting ds to sleep in the daytime by walking him round in his buggy?

He is 9 months old, and used to be a great napper - we used to just put him in his cot and he went straight down to sleep. Then he started walking and crawling etc and stopped napping in his cot, so to make life easier I put him in his buggy and walked him to get him eo sleep. And now 4 weeks on we are having to take him for a walk for every daytime nap. If we put him in his cot he just screams and screams.

At night, he just goes straight to sleep in his cot, and sleeps through...

Does anyone have any tips on how to get him to sleep in his cot in the daytime? I don't mind taking him for a walk sometimes (it gets me out of the house, gets the dog walked, keeps me a little bit slimmer), but it does mean I just don't get a break in the day...

Bunnyhunny

My heart goes out to you.

My DS (8 months) got cot-phobic the other week for naps and I found rocking him almost to the point of sleep before putting him down worked for me. When I put him down he would wake a bit and be on the verge of screaming but I just kept stroking him and saying "Shhh" until he fell asleep. If it all fell apart I'd pick him up & start again. It was hard work though - one day he napped for just 35 mins all day - but he did get over it and now naps quite happily again in his cot.

Bunnyhunny - had exactly this prob with dd at about the same age. Moved to her sleeping in stationary pushchair which works well. She knows that cot is for bed time & pushchair for naps.

First started walking her to sleep then parking & sleep stationary.

Then walked until she looked v sleepy & parking.

Then just rocking a little.

Now she is just put in pushchair & naps fine.
