Feet to Foot....when can I stop

DD3 is 18m. Is it safe to stop putting her feet to foot to sleep?

She crawls/shuffles up the cot and gets cold. I don't like grobags and I don't particularly want to try and introduce her to one at 18m. I would like to try putting her head near the top of the cot - like she would sleep in a proper bed. After all she will probably be in a proper bed in a few months.

Is this a big NO NO?

My dd went into a proper bed with duvet and pillow at 15mo (ds2 was imminent) so I'm sure you can at 18mo. I was under the impression that that particular SIDs advice was only for the first year or so, but I don't know where I got that idea from!

My DS was in his big bed at 18 months, and he pretty much filled the cot by that time so was already at the head of it iyswim.

We took the sides off dd1's cot and made it a junior bed at 14 months - she was walking and trying to climb out. I think as long as they are able to move themselves about in the cot then they are fine.

Will try it I think.

Getting cold=waking mummy & dady up which is not great!!!

If its any help DS was shuffling up to the top of the cot by 5 mths! He used his heels and the back of his head and could get out of his play gym and quite a long way across the living room too
Not sure what SIDS advice is but I'm sure someone will know.
