13 week old sleep help!

Hey, so my DS2 is nearly 13 weeks. He has never slept well, he sometimes manages to do reasonably well until about 3/3.30, doing a couple of feeds, but from then onwards until we get up at about half 6 he is up every half hour or so, fidgeting around and just generally unsettled even after I’ve fed him! How come he is able to do sometimes do a good ish stretch first off but then the last part of the night is a complete mess?! I don’t think I do anything different with the feeds (he’s EBF) I just don’t why that part of the night goes downhill. Hope that all makes sense, any advice would be great thank you :)

I think I read that the last part of sleep Is the lightest so easily disturbed?

Hi so a few things to think about here. No1 is that babies sleep is naturally super deep from about 8-12, semi deep 12-4 and then very light onwards. So they are naturally unsettled at this point and therefore their sleep drive needs to be strong... I would look at how much day sleep they're getting? If they don't have enough left in the tank this will be incredibly difficult.
A fabulous Instagram account that saved my sanity - with every single detail and answer to all your questions regarding day sleep etc is @takingcarababies. I have followed her advice and my naturally awful sleeper is so great now.

Thank you @rroddiee I've just started following her on Instagram! Can I ask what you did to help get the good sleep? How old was your DC?

@Laur89 we focused on getting appropriate naps during the day (which ended up baby wearing in a sling most of the time as we could "control" them as such) just so she wasn't chronically overtired before we began fixing her night sleep. Followed wake windows as suggested by @takingcarababies and focused on getting regular, full feedings during the day. Then she started sleeping much better at night as she wasn't sleeping as much during the day and had much more sleep drive for night time - side note though we did do a gentle bit of sleep training at 4-5 months after the 4month regression but she coped really well with this! They really do change so quickly but honestly Cara is a game changer- my daughter is 11months old now and we've followed her advice the whole way and she's been so great Smile
