Crying it out

Should I be letting my 3 month old "cry it out" when putting him in his cot awake to go to sleep at naptimes and bedtime?

Self settling and crying it out are both very different - so what exactly do you mean? Self settling yes, absolutely. Baby awake, fed,
warm, clean bum and down. If he's grunting and flappy, leave him. A slight whinge, leave.
If he's uncontrollably screaming - you pick him up. Soothe him, put him back.
Leaving a baby to scream and do nothing only teaches them you aren't coming. Both methods are very different.

Too young for cry it out (leaving to cry with no intervention)

Controlled crying (going in at intervals) is also not advised for that age group

Way too young imo... And cio isn't a dump and run method...

Not at 3 months, no. Probably not at 6. What would make you think that was a good idea?

No definitely not to cry it out at 3 months; neither of mine had set nap times or bed times at 3 months as they’re still so little! Is this something you’ve been told?
As the PP said a bit of a grunt or whinge i’d probably wait to see if they settle themselves or progress into a full cry.

Why would you want to do that?

How would you like to be left alone to cry until you fell asleep through sheer exhaustion when you're feeling upset, lonely and God only knows what else?

Cuddle him, be there for when he cries, don't leave him. Way too young for that.

Soak up those cuddles, the time goes so fast.
