Any one else dreading the clocks going back?

Remember how we used to love it, an extra hour in bed? Try telling a 1 and 3 year old that actually it's not time to get up yet...

Had all these plans to let them stay up really late tonight to try and offset it but typically was desparate for them to go to bed at usual times!

And DH cleverly picked tomorrow for his lie in...

Not too bad for me as our half term is next week. I've already put my dd's clock back, she's 9, so she doesn't get up before 7.30 in the morning, but she's decided to work on the

new time already, and is walking up the stairs saying see you at 10 o'clock.
God, I'm sure there should have been a couple of full stops in that sentence!

Spring forward, Fall back.

tribpot · 27/10/2007 20:08

Dreading it. Ds is still splashing in the bath but it's that whole double-edged sword, you keep them up a bit later in the hopes of them sleeping, only for them to have a crap night's sleep and wake up even earlier.

Why oh why do parents of teenagers complain they sleep all the bloody time?! (I can fully sympathise as to why parents of teenagers complain for other reasons, I was forced to issue a command to some stroppy number this afternoon to get out of my way so I could pass on a reasonably narrow path with ds in his pushchair, and god knows she wasn't the only one, just the youngest!).

sarahhal · 27/10/2007 20:20

Oh I'm dreading 5.00am as I know that DS1 will be wide awake and refuse to go back to sleep. We will have fallen out by 6.00am, DH will be in a foul mood and the rest of the day will be awful!

TheGoddessBlossom · 27/10/2007 20:21

yeah Sarahhal that's about it in a nutshell for us too...

What time do you actually put them back cause DP is at work until 12.30am - so how does that work??

fireflyfairy2 · 27/10/2007 20:25

What do you do Motherfunk?

What kind of workplace would make you work all night & then the next day too?

JARM · 27/10/2007 20:27

Dh is happy - means he gets an extra hour to paint! (We are decorating at the moment!) He didnt come to bed til 1am this morning and then got up with the girls at 6.30am because I was feeling really ropey today.

Tomorrow, Im hoping the girls wont notice too much because it will still be dark - DD1 is almost at the "its still dark, so still sleep time" understanding, but she did take herself off to bed tonight.

ScaryMonsterStories · 27/10/2007 20:31

empen, its usually 2am

cazboldy · 27/10/2007 20:33

it's going to be dark when we get home from school!
Don't know how on earth we are going to do all the animals together! and dd1 gets really ratty if I do them before she gets home!

omeN666 · 27/10/2007 20:38

Dreading it..Ds not too bad as he can tell the time and saying to him dont wake us until xx time is great.
However DD1 will either come in and harrass us from 4am or sleep until 5.30am and then bounce around the house until one of us gets out of bed.

eandh · 27/10/2007 20:40

we had it all planned to let dd1 have a lunchtime sleep (unheard off as we dont let her sleep in the day as a 10min snooze in the car equals late and stroppy bedtime) and dd2 to have late afternoon nap and put them to bed later. dd1 was looking forward to watching strictly come dancing and having chinese with us.

But oh no they both have developed this sickness bug so I have spent since 1pm clearing sick up (although dd1 just turned 3 managed to make it to the bowl after the 1st incident dd2 is 9 months so just projtile vomits wherever she is) both slept this afternoon and both went to bed earlier than normal as they cannot stay awake and look so ill.

So they'll either sleep tonight because they need the rest to get better and be up at 5am instead of the normal 6am wake up or they'll be up and down not feeling well and noone will get any sleep at all and dh goes back to work tomorrow at 7am after a week off

omeN666 · 27/10/2007 20:42

awweandh hope they are better soon

Mine all went to bed earlier than normal tonight

bubblerock · 27/10/2007 21:56

lol - should I take a picture for you to drool over (roast beef and all the trimmings)

ps - not a glass plate in sight

soosy · 27/10/2007 22:23

Hell it's only one night and they will go to bed earlier on Sunday night - spring's much worse when you really lose out as you lose an hour of real sleep, before they start getting up early.

Well DD did an unheard of ever before super long nap of 2 hours at lunchtime so stayed up later tonight (with lots of cartoons and playing with Daddy!). So hopoefully she will wake at about 6am. I am gearing up for a 5am though and am off to bed now

tribpot · 28/10/2007 07:38

5 a.m. on the button.

Was at the end of my tether by 6 a.m.

And we have a 250 mile car journey today. Then I go back to work tomorrow morning whilst dh has time to 'recover' cos we'll be staying at my mum's house. Yay.

susiecutiebananas · 28/10/2007 07:45

Morning fellow sleep deprived

we were up at 05:30 (new time) which i have to say is early for my DD normally. she will often sleep until 07:30 ( old time! )

so, I'm exhusted already. it was dark, and drizzling. HORRIBLE!

she looks like she's getting a bit sleepy now, so might try to put her down for a snooze... wishful thinking??

hope you all got a bit more sleep, I'm with you though tribpot!

rolls out of thread under eye bags dragging on the floor behind

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 28/10/2007 07:47

Well DS is 6 and in theory old enough to come down and turn the TV on oh deep joy.

This morning I was aware of him climbing into bed, and I thought oh lovely a quick cuddle then he will be off.

That was until I realised he had brought the game of frustration in to bed with him, in an effort to get away from it I actually rolled into it and caught the corner on my forehead.

No harm done, but strangely enough I am wide awake.

Then I realised the clocks had gone back, then I felt like weeping.

SpookyDooooo · 28/10/2007 07:59

Me, dd woke at 11pm last night, then 3.30am (which would have been 2.30am) then she was up at 6.10am real time so she was up at 5.10am with the clocks back.

I am knackered, dp is lieing in, i feel crap luckily i have a star sleeper in ds who is 5 He is still in bed now.

I am going to be mega grumpy later already yawning now.

tribpot · 28/10/2007 07:59

Clock Change May Cause Tiredness - y'don't say.

I felt so sorry for Suzanna on the Beeb news yesterday having to say "and that means an extra hour in bed. For some people." - notably not her with three young kids!

llynnnn · 28/10/2007 09:12

grrrr stupid daylight saving!! We were up at 4.45 (new time) this morning!! eating breakie by 6am! I'm whacked now, how long do you think it will take to get 15mth dd back to normal?
To make matters worse, it was dh's turn to get upm, but he was up all night with evil D&V bug, waking all 3 of us in the night too!
I need to sleep!!

TheGoddessBlossom · 28/10/2007 10:42

up at 5.30am new time, which I didn't think was too bad, have done that often enough before...in fact it represented practically a lie in for my two, as they frequently don't sleep till 6.30am which they basically did today.

Roll on bedtime! Don't mean it kids...wish it wasn't raining though..
