14 month old waking 4.30 - 5.30am

Our LO has started waking extraordinarily early. He usually went 11 hours or so and wake up time was from 6am onwards. Nights are inconsistent, sometimes he'll sleep through, other times he'll wake a few times.

Last night he woke at 10pm, wasn't upset and seemed to try and go back to sleep, with intermittent squeaks, but half an hour later he started crying, so I went in to settle him. I'm so exhausted ATM, I end up lying on a mattress next to his cot and shhhing and patting until we both fall asleep.

He generally goes to bed about 4 hours after waking from his second nap, which is usually 7pm. He's in nursery twice a week and he's just moved class where the routine is to have one nap after lunch around midday. I'm fine with this as I know they can start to drop a nap around this age and he can make up for overtiredness at home with his two nap schedule.

When he's at home, he's having two naps a day - usually 45mins to 1 hour at 9am. I will wake him if he's still sleeping by 10:15am because I find his afternoon nap suffers. Then he'll nap 2pm - 3ish. I will wake him at if he's still sleeping at 3.30pm. So he's getting around 2 to 2.5 hours nap a day.

He is usually very ready for bed at 7pm so I can't see a way to move his bedtime later. Not even sure that will help?

Maybe it's just a developmental thing, as he's learning a lot of new words and his gross motor skills are improving every day (walking/ crouching/ climbing/ balancing etc) but if anyone's got any tips please yell.

I'm considering finding a sleep consultant, but that usually happens when we have a particularly bad night!
