Sleepyhead

Is this safe for overnight sleep? The website says so, but also says it should be supervised and that seems like an unrealistic expectation.

No.

No, and if you’re going to use one it’s not recommended that babies are left unsupervised in them. Of course sleepyhead are going to say they are safe, they want you to buy one!

I’m not sure if you’re thinking of buying one in advance or if you’re desperate with a sleepless baby. If it’s the latter, I don't think these replies have been very helpful. Of course, PP are right - no nests or sleep pods or anything that is like a pillow are recommended for safe sleep. Having said that, my DD slept in one for a few weeks. She wouldn’t sleep anywhere except on me (not next to me - she had to be face down on my chest), which is completely normal of course when they’re tiny but I was getting so tired I was falling asleep with her and it wasn’t safe. For me, it was a choice between what was safer - the risk of putting her down in the sleepyhead overnight or the risk of unsafe cosleeping. She slept better in the sleepyhead, and I got a bit of sleep, too. It’s totally a personal choice what is right for you and your baby. It’s never possible to eliminate risk altogether, there are just guidelines in place to help you make informed decisions about what works best for your child. I hope this is helpful.

Agree with PP. I use sleepyhead most nights as baby feels safer there and I feel safer leaving her in there than dropping her from being tired. It's what works for you! My baby girl is almost 4 months and she's slept in sleepyhead from birth. We always start off in her cot but she ends up in sleepyhead after her feed in the night x

@Dillybear DS is 4 weeks old and not a total nightmare (he's not a poster child for great infant sleep but compared to DD he is a dream). He does sleep better in his Moses basket than in the next to me, but thankfully will go down in the next to me for shorter periods (up to 2 hours, usually closer to 1). I just figured that the sleepyhead might make him more comfortable in the next to me at night and maybe stretch out that sleep.

Thanks for taking the time to comment everyone- I appreciate it.

I would only use in dire situations as I had one and my ds always got so sweaty if he was in it for long periods when he was young, I was scared he was going to over heat. Congratulations on your baba☺️
