CC Advice

Not looking for judgement here AT ALL, but i need a few tips - about to start CC with almost 10m DD who is still waking 2-3 hourly to breastfeed overnight. She self-settles for naps and at bedtime, i was happy to keep feeding her in the night, thought she'd grow out of it when she was ready... but she's now eating 3 meals a day plus a snack, and she's walking and climbing everything, both of which i heard were magic bullets for sleeping through. I'm ready ish to start TTC number 2 and i really need more sleep.

Currently, i try to leave her to sort herself out for a bit, but it doesn't work. She'll grumble, sometimes for up to half an hour, and then get upset. So, i have two questions for you experts...

  1. How long do i leave her grumbling before i go in?
  2. Do i pat her to calm, or just give her a little love and bob out again til the next interval?

I'm at that stage too. Only problem is DD has to be in our room as she can't go with DS UNTIL she starts sleeping...

I'm not an expert but what we did is pop in and calm her (stroke, shush for about 30 seconds at increasing intervals). Does yours take a dummy?

Once she started crying I would go in after five minutes, then seven, then ten on the first night. I'd then start at ten the next night. To be honest with my second I just left him for longer to sort himself out. Within two nights he was sleeping through.

I done CC at around 8 months.
Same as you my DD went to bed fine it was just the middle of the night we had issues with.
If it was just grumbling/moaning then no I wouldnt go in. When it becomes crying then I would go in and try to settle in cot and then leave the room and put the timer on.
I cant lie - i sobbed as much as she did but luckily by night 3 she was sleeping through.
Its horrible and the first night lasted 2 hours in total but not 2 hours of crying. My DD had quite a lot of time just laying there or little moans (i fed her when she first cried as she was still young & i couldn't rule out hunger) then put her in cot and started CC.
Best thing I did for our sleep
Dont let others judge you do what you think is healthy and safe for your baby

First night was pretty good - in an unprecedented event, she slept til 3! Took an hour and ten for her to go back down but she never really got hugely upset. Then slept til 7.
