Hey all

So my lg has had colic since 2 weeks and she's now ten weeks.

She started crying from 10pm till 12am, then it was 5.30pm ish, 6pmish till 12am but recently she starts her crying at 7pm and often settles around 9pm or 10pm, tonight she's cried 45 minutes, had a bottle and then slept for an hour and a half.. This is unheard of at this time of night.

What signs did you get your lo's colic was easing up

@BB081

My daughter has colic from birth, I completely sympathise with you, it’s awful! She would start crying at 8pm then continue until the early hours of the morning. I couldn’t tell you when she settled down to be honest, it gradually phases out, but she doesn’t sleep too good anyway (she’s 1 now).

We started putting colief then infacol in her bottles (or the other way round, can’t remember, best to check the packaging). I feel like sometimes it did make a difference and other times maybe not. I think because we are unsure what actually causes colic, there isn’t a miracle medicine unfortunately, but defiantly worth a try!

Good luck and fingers crossed it eases off soon!

Thanks bb! My first child, son had colic so bad, was none stop and it was 16 years ago so there wasn't as much to help back then or we didn't know as much about in tolerances etc. Sure he had one, would only sleep about 40 minutes throut the day in total and a couple hours at night and just scream Confused

My second little girl I've had 16 years later and she really isn't as half as bad, she's got silent reflux abit (controlled by gaviscon abit) and colic.

I've just been given colief on script by the doc, just trying to figure out what is the best way to administrator it (bottle fed and use a prep machine as my daughter is the most impatient ever haa)

I know it will pass and i can see little changes atm for the better so I'm kinda okay with it, rather she not scream for hours but i know she is ok... We have subtitles on Netflix too haa! X

Hi rainbow

I completely understand, i do! I was the same weeks ago but I'm starting to see improvement as she's getting older. She's now 11 weeks.
I know it's not great but it helped me to just accept its going to happen, as long as my lg is clean, fed, changed and cuddled then i know she will be ok.
It's not nice hearing them cry but i promise you it DOES get better.
My lg is crying as we speak :(
She does settle alot quicker these days though

I use gripe water and massage her belly in the day and before bed. X

@Victorialisa thank I know they are the main things deffo x

I'm lucky to have my mam coming over during the day so that I can get a few hours here and there. I'm going to start the tummy massages and leg cycling. He's been on infacol now for the past 2 days and last night and today he does seem a little better so I'm hoping it's helping.

I think he's also got reflux, gulping etc throughout the day. I'm so frightened to but him down on his back through fear of him chocking as he goes red in the face 😢 x

Aww, yeah it's definitely nice to have support. My mum lives 45 mins away and works alot but has her overnight once every 3 weeks so me and my partner can have date night. It really helps and makes us better parents for it

Your lo is still only really young yet and at that stage my lgs silent reflux was awful.
Think colic comes with reflux but we have tried different things since then and we found gaviscon has helped.
She still suffers with it but it's definitely nowhere near as bad.

It's all trial and error and just say to yourself, look the next couple weeks may be hard but it's a phase and one day you'll wake up, your baby will start smiling at you and you will think, you know what, its a little better recently and it gets better and better after abit of time.

Try not to get to down with it, i know it's hard but i was really really anxious about it all at 6 weeks and looking back i wish i would of chilled abit, it's all working out alot better now.

In the meantime you could try

Colic - gripe water, carry on with infacol, tummy massage and leg cycling, pushing legs up towards belly to release gas, warm bath or colief ( you can get this on script as it costs a bomb) bit of a faff getting it in bottles 30 minutes before a feed but has good reviews

Reflux - gaviscon, reflux milk ( it can make them constipated though), carobel ( you can play around with the thickness so it suits your baby, burping baby in between and after feed, keeping baby upright for 20 ish minutes after feed, putting a towel under mattress, pram and changing mat. If none of that helps ask your doctor for a referel to a pedestrian so you can get better mexs like Omprzole.

Fingers crossed and remember it really does get better, it's just a phase and babies literally change overnight sometimes x

Ps- just realised how ling this post is lol
Oh well, it shows i care haa!

Hi @Victorialisa haha thanks so much for all the info in your post! I took my son to the hospital because he kept choking when laid on his back and they have gave him carobel and I've elevated all of his flat surfaces at home.

Going to try all the tips for the colic too and carry on with the infacol Smile

Yeah I need to try and stay positive in the hope that this will all pass one day soon and he'll be out of all the discomfort 🙌🏼 xx
