My sleeping position

About me, not Dcs but didn't know where to put it!!

I have a firm mattress, I am a deep deep sleeper. Ultimately, when I sleep I don't move! My favoured sleeping position which I must naturally get into is almost the recovery position, and from then on I have atleast 6 hours like it. When I wake up in the morning I am in the most excruciating pain. Feels as if my hips are disintegrating and it radiates round to my spine. Once I start moving the pain subsides but for the first 30 mins or so of the day I can barely walk.

Can anyone suggest anything... I was thinking new bed, but I really think it just down to my position rather than the bed itself. Anyone else sleep like this??!

Hi OP,

I sleep on my side and I think I must move quite a bit in my sleep from side to side because I don’t have the issues you describe.
Maybe rather than going straight for the expense of a new bed could you try a decent mattress topper? I think some of them have a couple of layers so you can try and achieve the right comfort level. Also what about having a pillow supporting your back it might help to take the pressure off a bit. Something like a pregnancy pillow might work because they are long and designed to offer lot’s of support.
If none of this works maybe an orthopaedic mattress/bed would be worth considering. We have a sealey one and it seems to suit me and DH well.
With any of the above I would check out the reviews before you buy anything.
I hope you find a solution OP, it must be horrible waking up like this every day.

I prefer a soft mattress and for that reason we have a foam mattress rather than a spring one.

I get exactly the same pains you describe when I'm on holiday. I put it down to having a mattress too hard/firm. I'm much better with one that moulds to my shape, so puts less pressure on the bits of me pressing on the mattress.
